Oh happy day!
I went to sleep with the windows open last night and woke up in a wonderfully cool room. The air was so clean and crisp. I woke up refreshed and in a great mood. The drive to work was also absolutely beautiful and I hated to have to spend the day in my windowless office.
Today's beautiful weather was only surpassed my the beautiful picture of my TV once the guy from Cox came over to install my cable. Oh man. I <3 HDTV. Seriously. You don't know what you're missing with regular tv. It's soooooo worth it.
Okay, I'm gonna go eat a popsicle and watch my beautiful tv.
peace out.

Weekend Update
My dad and grandmother were in town for the weekend. It was *way* too hot but we had fun anyway. Yummy dinner at Legal Seafood on Friday, checking out the National Museum of the American Indian on Saturday(NMAI... for some reason I really like that acronym. The museum was cool too. :) ), and visiting cousins in western Loudoun County on Sunday. Actually, it may not be western Loudoun for long. My cousin is part of the campaign to secede from the county (http://www.catoctincounty.org/). Pretty cool. It's absolutely gorgeous out there. The last time I visited (10 years ago?) you couldn't even see another house from their property. Now you can see the roofs of a couple of houses. :(
My dad also brought down a bunch of stuff that I had left in NY. Mostly clothes (finding a place for them was no small task), but also a box of random stuff like my Lego letters from Jen, my Garden State soundtrack, and my Blue's Clues chair from Steph. :) I missed my stuff. :)
I also got really excited on Sunday because I saw that gas had gone *down* $0.01 at the Citgo where I filled up last week. That is the first time I've seen gas go down all summer. Very exciting. But it's still kinda sad that I got excited about $2.62/gal.
My HD cable will be set up tomorrow night. I'm very excited. Now I *really* need a couch. I'll regale you with stories about the beauty of the picture tomorrow or Wednesday. :)

A case of the Mondays
The following is a list of unpleasant pre-9am experiences:
On the plus side, today is pay day plus I just got a $500+ reimbursement from my trip to NJ last month.
- seeing that gas has gone up $0.20 over the weekend
- getting cut off by a stupid SUV
- hearing a jake break
- hearing the j-breaking truck have some nasty-sounding transmission issues

A long week
I worked a lot this week. Didn't leave the office until 7:30pm on Wednesday. But the design is done... well, the first draft of it anyway. I'm still going to be plenty busy with it for the rest of the month.
I bought a cute little lamp for my desk on Tuesday (I think it was Tuesday... I haven't slept well this week). My bedroom is really coming together. I'll try to post some pictures this weekend. The living room is still a total disaster, but I'll have to do something about that because my mom and sister are staying with me August 25-29. Maybe I'll take some before photos of the mess. lol.

Weekend plans:
- Tonight- probably watching a movie in bed and going to sleep early... It's been a long week.
- Saturday - Oil change for my car, maybe getting a chair for my desk, cleaning the apartment, Ivan's housewarming party.
- Sunday - wandering around D.C. with Gregdor, probably more cleaning.

Amazingness
After 2 months of awfulness, my computer has arrived! But since it wasn't delivered until 10:45 this morning, I'll have to pick it up from the rental office after work. Oh man.... Furniture and a computer? It's almost too much...
But wait... It gets better. I bought myself a new camera yesterday to replace my 4-year-old Sony with its measley 2.3 megapixels and ability to go through batteries faster than.... something really fast! My new camera is a Nikon Coolpix 4600. It is awesome and small and fabulous. Hooray.
Meanwhile, I have to get through another long day of design writing... I was at the office until 6:30pm yesterday. On the plus side, traffic was much lighter and I got home in under 20 minutes. Hopefully today won't be as late.
peace out.

Happiness is a warm... desk!
I officially have furniture! Trey came over this evening and helped me (okay, I helped him) assemble my desk and finish assembling my dresser. Hooray! My bedroom now looks like someone actually lives here. Before the furniture, it was more like a squatter lived here. :) But now there are books on the shelves on my desk, and clothes in my dresser (instead of my suitcase). And I finally have my floor back. Progress... slow, but steady.
My weekend in Pittsburgh was wonderful. It felt so good to be back in Zeta and among my sisters. I feel refreshed and rejuvinated. :) Amazingness. Also, I now have an (unassembled) bed frame that matches my dresser and (unassembled) nightstand. w00t!
Now if only I had a couch...
