Happy Birthday Dops!!!

I'd like to wish Kate a very happy 23rd birthday... I wish I could celebrate with you!

And I'd also like to give Kate a shout out for best drunk dial ever!!! She called me from the streets of Jerusalem during a Purim carnival after consuming some quantity of wine, etc. And where was I when she called? At the office, returning to my desk after faxing some documents.... Yeah, she wins.

And then I found $5.

Best Voicemail Ever!

So, I had a meeting this afternoon and when I got back to my cube, I saw that I had a voicemail from *blank*, which means it was from my Doppy (Verizon can't seem to figure out those international phone numbers). Yay Doppy!

So, then I listened to the VM, and it turns out that she was calling me from her locked bathroom. It was a pretty crazy story, involving climbing in and out of windows, scampering along a pitched roof (btw, my Doppy is rather amazing), and a MacGuyver-esque manipulation of bobby pins.

In summary: Voicemail... from my Doppy... in a locked bathroom... in Israel.

2 inches of snow = overwhelming disaster.... seriously?

So, last Tuesday night the DC area got about 2.5 inches of snow and freezing rain... So schools were closed for 3 days (plus an early dismissal last Tuesday and no school today b/c of President's Day... yeah, that's six days in a row... I'm very jealous of my roomie.) and the roads to my office *still* have not been plowed. Seriously, Fairfax County... learn how to handle less than 3 inches of snow.... Syracuse, NY figured out how to do it. One of its suburbs received 10 *feet* of snow, and schools were still open!

I mean, it just takes a little planning... and some plows... and some salt trucks. But that's about it... The county should not shut down for 2.5 measly inches of snow.

Seriously.

On the plus side, temps are finally above freezing, so hopefully the roads to my office will be clean in a day or two...

Almost two months?

Oh goodness, how have you all survived?

I actually started 2 or 3 posts over the last 8 weeks, but never finished/published them. Too bad! :)

2006 ended on a nice note. I spent a week at my parents' new house in Asheville, NC. It was absolutely beautiful... I may even get around to posting pics at some point. The only downside to the trip is that I got a cold the day before I left (which may or may not have turned into a sinus infection in the three weeks it took me to get better).

36 hours after returning to DC, I hopped on Amtrak and scurried up to Boston for a NYE extravaganza at Harriet and Trey's. How on earth we all fit into the apartment is beyond me. The weekend was pretty much amazing and even had a theme song!

Tragically, on New Year's Day I had to say goodbye to Kate for at least the next 5 months! *cry* She's in Israel doing all kinds of crazy things (like riding a camel!) and I am massively jealous/trying to find a way to get to Israel myself.

After several weeks of crazy weather (74 degrees in January?!?!), DC had its first snowfall today. The roads were really bad, and now there's freezing rain. Snow with a coat of ice on top. Spectacular. :(

That's all for now, my lovelies.

PS - New Year's resolution: Post more often.
