Dell is a big pile of poo.

Dell *still* has not managed to get my machine from Tenesse to Virginia. Idiots! And the damn guy on the phone today actually got pissy with me! And they are all completely incapable of giving a straight answer. Don't ever buy a computer from Dell and don't ever use DHL to deliver anything.

On the plus side, I am leaving for Pgh in an hour and my wonderful sisters will wash away all of my frustrations. :) I love you ladies and I can't wait to see you! Oh man... I just realized that I can have truck for lunch tomorrow... OH MAN!

so sad

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/27/AR2005072701681.html

This is so unfortunate... How did NASA go from sending 12 men to the moon 35 years ago to not being able to enter Earth's orbit without loosing a huge chunk of foam?

... go go CEV? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crew_Exploration_Vehicle)

Life is not awful!

I almost forgot about the wonderful surprise waiting for me when I got home last night (no, not my computer)... What's more awesome than an Eddie Izzard DVD? 4 Eddie Izzard DVDs of course! I watched Unrepeatable last night. He is so funny! So yeah... :)

Life is awful!

Okay, perhaps I'm being a bit melodramatic. But the coffee machine at work is broken. Now, I try not to drink coffee too often, but sometimes you just need it. Like when you only got 6 hours of sleep because your body is stupid and likes to wake up early and not let you get back to sleep. Instead, I'm making due with Diet Coke with Lime... On a related note, why is it that the Coke machine on my floor charges $1.25 for a 20 oz. bottle (and only has Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Iced Tea and water) while the machine in the parking garage charges $1 for a 20 oz. bottle and has C2(Harriet got me hooked over 4th of July) and Cherry Coke? So unfair.

Why Jerry Maguire is such an awesome movie...

I really love this movie. I can watch it over and over again. Why do I love it so much? Here are a few reasons:

1. Tom Cruise -- before he went all psycho, divored Nicole, and starting spouting craziness at Matt Lauer.

2. Amazing dialogue... Here are a few examples:
Rod: I feel for you, man. But a real man wouldn't shoplift the pootie from a single mom.
Jerry: I didn't shoplift the pootie.
[Rod gives him a long look]
Jerry: All right. I shoplifted the pootie.

Jerry: I love you. You... complete me.
Dorothy: You had me at hello.

Ray: D'you know that the human head weighs 8 pounds? D'you know that bees and dogs can smell fear?

3. Renee Zellweger is phenomenal.

4. Jonathan Lipnicki (the little kid who is now 14 and has braces) and Cuba Gooding Jr. are hysterical!

5. The wisdom of Dicky Fox.

6. An amazing soundstrack.

Dell is the Devil

Dear Dell,

Please stop lying to me. I am really sick of it.

Also, please get my computer to me. I have been waiting for more than 6 weeks.

(No) love,
Sara

Update-O-Rama

Okay... 2 weeks full of various thoughts and ideas.

First: Why Mallory Snyder makes my heart smile
CMUCurlyQ: tot may yay splay

... truly remarkable. Mal, Pashley and I were all in the Bestchester last weekend for my 22nd and Harriet's 21st. Such a blast. We saw Wedding Crashers Saturday night. Sooooooooo funny. I didn't have very high expectations, but I was really impressed. Plus, I don't exactly mind looking at Owen Wilson for 2 hours. :)

And, of course, I also got a pretty awesome birthday present Saturday morning: Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince. I finished it Monday night. Oh my goodness. If you have finished it, you *must* call me! I'm going crazy without someone to talk to about it.

I had my first business trip this week (in lovely Trenton, NJ). It was interesting, and now I've got tons of stuff to do at work. On a related note, people who stop in the middle of hallways in Union station or a Metro station (or any other crowed public place) are awful, especially when they have a rolling suitcase or similar with them that you can barely keep yourself from falling all over and dumping all of your bags everywhere and causing even more of a disturbance! Okay, I'm better now.

My computer is still somewhere in Dell/DHL land. Ask me about it if you want to hear a really awful story. To summarize, my hard drive died around the middle of June (yes, it was only 3 months old) and due to various acts of extreme stupidity (Dell and DHL) and bad luck I've been without a computer for 6 weeks and counting. At least my work computer is a laptop, so I can bring it home and have some internet access on the weekends. Ugh...

Plans for this weekend:
- buying an awesome TV (if I can find some way of getting it from Arlington to my apartment)
- reading/sleeping
- working on my tan
- grocery shopping
- receiving my computer (???? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!)

... I live such an exciting life.

Peace out.

I <3 firefox

A real post will follow soon. I promise. Meanwhile, http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Do it! It will change your life... or at least the way you surf the web.

First Post

I will be 22 in 8 days.... Before my memory goes, I should probably start writing things down. Okay, no my memory isn't going. I just want to have some place to writing stuff down... and other people can look at what I write and laugh/cry/ponder/etc.

I just finished (10 minutes ago) my 5th week of work. It is going well, although some things are frustrating at times (like stupid slow VPN connections).

All in all, life is pretty good. My apartment is lovely and spacious (partially due to the fact that I don't have much furniture to speak of). I <3 my car. There is a plentiful supply of CMU folks around and many more non-CMU folks for me to find. :) I'm having dinner with Anna tomorrow and then we're gonna go see War of the Worlds. On Sunday Karthik, Jen K and I are going to get lunch and see The Fantastic Four. And (hopefully) Trey and I are going to go to Ikea and get me a desk and dresser at some point.

Busy busy busy.

Okay, that's enough for now. Time for the commute home.
