Weekend Wrap-up

Oh man... I had such a great time with Anne and Mal this weekend. I love those girls!

Friday: I met Anne and Mal in DC at the International Spy Museum. It was *very* cool. Then we went back to my apartment (which they really liked), chilled for a few minutes and then realized that we were very hungry and needed to eat! Anne called Kati and the three of us met her and Aaron in Fairfax at Coastal Flats, a really yummy seafood restaurant near my office. Anne and I both had Mojitos with dinner. Yum! Then we went back to my apartment where we all fell asleep in less than 20 minutes.

Saturday: I went to the gym where my personal trainer *destroyed* my triceps (I'm still aching), but I had a really good workout. I got home around 10:30 and the girls were still asleep, so I read a bit and drank my Pumpkin Spice Latte (delish!) They woke up around 11:30, and we all showered and then met Anna at Tyson's Corner for lunch at Chipotle and lots of shopping. We were all very stuffed from Chipotle but that didn't stop us from shopping until 9:30!!!!!!! After realizing that the mall was closing, we decided to go home, order pizza and watch a movie at my place. Anne+Mal+Me+pizza+alcohol+Bridget Jones' Diary = AMAZING!

Sunday: Anne and Mal left at 11am for Lancaster, and I spent the rest of the morning finishing my book. The rest of the day was spent lazing about doing laundry, watching TV and hanging out with the internet. I was planning on watching West Wing with Karthik, but he had to go to work (on a Sunday!!!). So, instead, I went to Giant, bought some salmon, made myself a yummy dinner and watched West Wing on my own. After the amazingness of the last few episodes I have to say that I was disappointed last night. The story lines barely moved forward. :( On the plus side, only 2 more weeks until the live debate episode.

TomKatNifferSton?

Here's what I wanted to write about earlier:

Okay... I am really tired of the media's obbsession with creating combo names for celebrity couples. Bennifer (the first time) was kind of amusing b/c of the whole media houpla surrounding J. Lo and Ben Affleck. But TomKat? Brangelina? Vinnifer? Ugh... It is rediculous and I'm sick of it.

Does anyone else agree?

*rant*

Why is it so cold and grey???? Wasn't it just 77 and sunny?!?!?! :(

I actually had a post in mind regarding something meaningful and less like the random crap I've been posting lately.... but then I forgot it. Sorry... maybe it will come back to me.

I win!

For the first time *ever* in my life I won a free Coke on a bottle cap! This is really amazing b/c the chance of winning is 1/12 and I've had many more Diet Cokes than that since I started work 4.5 months ago (and previously in my life). But I won!!!!! Hooray!!!!

Also, I'd like to dedicate today to Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte -- it's like liquid pumpkin pie! Delicioso!

Today's winners!

Today's winners include Independence Air and me!

I got an e-mail last week from Independence Air changing my flight to NY for Thanksgiving to and earlier time. I called them tonight and less than 10 minutes after I dialed their number I was booked on an acceptable flight. The customer service representative was helpful and curtious (unlike the jerks at Dell). Hooray! Independence Air gets a gold star from me.

I am also declaring myself winner of the day for having a good workout this morning, for getting two really cute pairs of shoes from Ann Taylor Loft for 25% off(Here's the brown shoes and the black shoes are pictured below -- yes, that's my feet in the black shoes... they aren't on ATL's website), and for correctly guessing the identity of the security leak on The West Wing. I rule!

Goodnight!PS - Taking a picture of your own feet is tricky.

Me and Slummie Bear (very cute, but not a replacement for the real thing)

6 Zetas...

1 Couch...

and a whole lot of loud singing...

We were so loud that Mer heard us from the third floor and came downstairs to join in the fun!

happy feet

I wrote a different version of this post a little while ago... but it didn't make any sense, so here is a new version.

Things that are awesome:
  • my purple argyle socks (hence the title of this post)
  • the apple I am eating right now
  • hot tea
  • the soundtracks to Elizabethtown and Rent
  • my plans for tonight (dinner with Karthik at Star Thai and then going home and watching Lost)
  • this article (read it if you want to laugh out loud at President Bush)
  • several days in a row of overcast weather that have allowed me to wear my glasses (the sun bothers my eyes when I drive and I can't wear my glasses with sun glasses)
Please note that exclusion from this list does not mean that you are not awesome... It just means that you are not in my immediate presence and have not wowed me with your awesomeness in the past day or so.

Wow.... this is a much better post than the previous version. I hope you enjoyed it.

JADs, Drexel, and the Shitsburgh Tow Pound

You: "Hey, Sara, what have you been up to lately?"
Me: "Lots... Let me tell you all about it."

I took Amtrak to Philly/Trenton on Monday for three days of JADs at NJDEP. They went really well, and we actually finished a little bit early on Thursday. So I called up Shelley to see if she was free. AND SHE WAS!!! So my co-worker drove me to Philly on his way to the airport and I got to see a bit of Drexel and Shelley's dorm room.

Here's what I learned at Drexel:
  • I actually don't look all that rediculous in hats
  • my sister has become a Beatles fan (joy!)
  • my feet *have* shrunk
After checking out her dorm and hanging out for a bit, we walked back to the train station and got some food from Au Bon Pain (yummy) and then saw that my train was 30 minutes late. So, we hung out and ate our food and then she had to go. I got on the train a little after 6pm and was back in DC at 8:30.

This morning I got a call from my mom b/c she got a letter from the Pittsburgh Tow Pound with a bill for $8 gazillion dollars (actually I think it was $118 or something like that) and telling me to come get my car out of the Tow Pound. That's right. They think that my car is still in Pittsburgh. Clearly they are confused because I have my car! Idiots! Anyway, now I have to fax them my credit card receipt Monday morning. It was bad enough that my car was towed and I had to pay for the parking ticket and the towing. *sigh*

In other news, it's raining a lot here in Virginia. 100% chance of rain through tomorrow night. Not exactly a lovely weekend, but at least it won't be too hot. Perhaps I'll actually put my bed frame together this weekend. Hmmmm.... Ooooooooo! Harriet has an interview with CGI-AMS next week. *joy* It would be waaaaaaaaaaaay too exciting if Har worked here too. :)

Okay, that it.

Wikipedia's Pic of the Day

From wikipedia.org: The central electrode of a Plasma lamp, showing a glowing blue plasma streaming upwards. The colors are a result of the radiative recombination of electrons and ions and the relaxation of electrons in excited states back to lower energy states. These processes emit light in a spectrum characteristic of the gas being excited.

How cool is this picture?
